Exploring Jaipur

Also known as the Pink City, Jaipur is one of the prettiest cities in India. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. It is an ideal blend of old traditions with a modern twist. It forms a part of the golden triangle in India along with Agra and New Delhi. Hence it is frequented by many tourists, both local and foreign. Jaipur is a place you want to keep going back to, whether it’s with friends, family or your partner. Here’s a list of places you must visit and things you must do whilst in Jaipur:

1. A visit to the Amer Fort:
If the sun is not too hot, make a visit to the Amer Fort in Jaipur. It’s situated slightly towards the outskirts of the city of Jaipur in a place called Amer. In terms of distance, the Amer Fort is about 11 kms away from the Jaipur. It is located on the top of a hill, making it a sight worth seeing. The architecture of the fort has a beautiful old-world charm to it. You won’t leave the fort without feeling royal yourself!

2. Cycle down to the Nahargarh Fort:
The Nahargarh Fort is a blend of Indian and European architecture. The way to the fort is gorgeous and makes for a great cycling trek. The Nahargarh Fort is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Sunday. After admiring the beauty of the fort, enjoy a meal at the open air restaurant. The view of the city from the top is breathtaking.

3. Experience it all at Chokhi Dhani:
Chokhi Dhani in Jaipur, hands down, offers the best cultural experience to one and all. From getting henna put, to indulging in fun games to puppet shows to taking a camel ride to enjoying a traditional Rajasthani meal, Chokhi Dhani has it all. It has something to offer for everyone, be it kids, teenagers or adults.

4. Shop till you drop:
Jaipur is a vibrant city. It has multiple shopping options to choose from. Ranging from high end shopping malls to designer boutiques to local markets to street shopping, Jaipur has it all. Whilst in Jaipur, shop for ethnic handicrafts, textiles, lehengas and jewellery. You can opt to go to Johari Bazaar, Baapu Bazaar, Handicrafts Emporium etc. to check out some exotic things.

5. Gorge on delicious food:
Be it luxury restaurants in 5 star restaurants, cute coffee shops, or local street food, Jaipur is sure to satisfy your taste buds. One never comes back dissatisfied from Jaipur. Some of the famous places to fill your tummy in Jaipur are Spice Court, Lakshmi Mishthaan Bhandaar, Rawat, Peacock Rooftop Pavillion, Anokhi Cafe, Tapri etc. Be sure to bring some goodies back for your loved ones, don’t eat everything all by yourself!
